Description and objectives:
In a high-speed world, no single application creates a long-term competitive advantage; rather, it is the platforms with the ability to develop, deploy and scale artificial intelligence (AI)-driven applications that will make the difference the fastest. The same is true in the industrial world. From this perspective, the digital factory needs an agile and efficient software platform for data lifecycle management, applications and AI models.
While the massive connectivity of people to the internet led to hyperscale cloud platforms (Amazon, Google, etc.), in the industrial world, cloud connectivity for data sharing is significantly lower. Edge and Fog (Near Edge) platforms are gaining momentum in the industrial market1 and hyperscale edge computing is envisaged, orchestrating, deploying and managing the lifecycle of data, applications and AI models. But collaboration between stakeholders across the value chain is necessary for the success of Edge-Fog computing. Collaboration that must be realised through the sharing of data across industrial Data Spaces. Standardised data that is a virtual representation of assets, a digital twin. In this sense the project proposes to investigate technology that enables hyperscale Edge and Fog computing architectures to drive the deployment of data management, people-centric decision making applications and federated AI models in advanced manufacturing. Employing standardisation and industrial data spaces in the automotive, aeronautics and space sectors.
