{"id":857541,"date":"2021-11-17T11:53:48","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T10:53:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www-dev.fagorautomation.com\/power2power-2\/"},"modified":"2023-08-12T07:10:31","modified_gmt":"2023-08-12T06:10:31","slug":"power2power-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www-dev.fagorautomation.com\/en\/power2power-2\/","title":{"rendered":"POWER2POWER: more energy, less environmental impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fagor participates in the Power2Power project<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an ambitious European project that aims to provide more efficient silicon-based solutions and contribute to decarbonization.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Power2Power project brings together 43 partners from 8 countries to develop silicon-based electrical semiconductors with higher <\/span><b>energy efficiency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and electrical density.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Increase performance<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This type of technology will increase the performance of a large number of applications in industry, mobility, the supply network, and renewable energies; and it will contribute significantly to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Project partners have established pan-European pilot lines with advanced aspects of <\/span><b>Industry 4.0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to develop innovative electrical electronic devices suitable for the future. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They have prioritized <\/span><b>silicon <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">because it still outperforms new emerging materials for its high reliability and excellent price-performance ratio. Power2Power will strengthen the dominant position of silicon-based electrical semiconductors in the world market over the next decade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project began on June 1, 2019, has a duration of 3 years, and has a budget of 74,257,768.75 euros financed by the European Commission and the Ministry of Energy, Tourism, and Digital Agenda. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is led by the German multinational Infineon Technologies AG, a world leader in semiconductor manufacturing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b> Minimize the impact on the carbon footprint <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-267754 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www-dev.fagorautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagen3-1-300x248.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"327\" height=\"270\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fagor Automation&#8217;s market model for control drive equipment requires many available references, of which the quantities demanded for each one are small.<\/p>\n<p>This circumstance means that the costs are not those that would be achieved if the demand were concentrated in a few references.<\/p>\n<p>With this project, Fagor aims to respond to its market of regulators for motors, optimizing costs in manufacturing, purchasing, management, warehousing, scrap, etc. &#8230;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fagor Automation has set itself the objective of rationalizing and reducing <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-267777\" src=\"https:\/\/www-dev.fagorautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagen2-1-300x228.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"327\" height=\"248\" \/>energy consumption, thus minimizing the impact of its activity on the carbon footprint. To do this, FAGOR is designing a new family of products that allow it to manufacture, with the minimum of materials, most of the product references that the market demands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Basic power module <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Achieving this objective is possible by having a base element called <\/span><b>IPBB<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Inverter Power Building Block). It is a complete <\/span><b>three-phase H<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which includes the power IGBTs with the Gate Drivers, DC \/ DC converters, current sensor, DC-Link capacitor, cooler, and fan. All this forms a semi-finished base power. Combinations of these components generate different capacity <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-268028\" src=\"https:\/\/www-dev.fagorautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagen4-1-300x260.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"327\" height=\"283\" \/>Inverters \/ Converters that are multiples of the base power capacity, allowing the manufacture of a wide <\/span><b>catalog <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www-dev.fagorautomation.com\/en\/downloads\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">products <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">such as that required by the Fagor Automation market. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the designed demonstrator, a box has been chosen that includes five IPBBs, called MACS (<\/span><b>Multi-Axis Control System<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), which can form a compact module for a complete machine (milling machine) composed of a regenerative source plus ahead and three axes.
