Fagor Automation has joined umati, an initiative of VDW<\/a><\/strong>, the German Machine Tool Builders\u2019 Association. umati\u2018s aim is to establish a worldwide standard for the connectivity of machine tools and is based on an OPC UA companion specification.<\/p>\n

There\u2018s no better connection than a common language<\/strong>, which is also true for machine tools<\/strong>. The easier they exchange and share information, the more efficient they are.<\/p>\n

In a joint effort, 17 partners and VDW created umati<\/strong> (u<\/strong>niversal ma<\/strong>chine t<\/strong>ool i<\/strong>nterface). It enables machine tools and peripherals to connect to customer-specific IT ecosystems \u2013 easy, secure, and seamless<\/strong>. Umati is an open standard<\/strong> for machine tool users throughout the world. It serves to exploit new potentials for manufacturing of the future.<\/p>\n

At the EMO<\/a><\/strong> Hannover 2019<\/strong> umati<\/strong> will be showing a demonstration of the interface standard in a special show<\/strong>. Trade visitors can inform themselves about the project in hall 9<\/strong> and learn how a central consolidation of the data on a demo dashboard takes place. Implementations of the common interface<\/strong> can be experienced at the project partners\u2019 booths<\/strong> (Fagor Automation booth, among others) throughout the show. They feature various machines and controllers which connect to a variety of communication partners and the umati demo dashboard.<\/p>\n

Connectivity with umati is simple, secure and future-oriented<\/strong>. Any machine with umati interface can be easily connected with applications<\/strong>. In this context, Fagor Automation keeps moving forward within the Industry 4.0 framework<\/strong> to support its customers in the digital transformation process.<\/p>\n
