Description and objectives:<\/h3>\n

The RETRO project arose form the problem of obsolescence faced by older machine tools in industrial parks, which affects the production needs of their user companies.<\/p>\n

The industrial digitalization has already introduced a considerable range of products and services in the machine tool user industry. These solutions include machine and plant monitoring, optimization of process, zero-defects projects, etc., and have enable the industrial fabric to vastly improve its capabilities and competitiveness.<\/p>\n

There is therefore a necessity, in companies that digitize their activities, to include existing machines, in their new production control and planning system, in addition to providing them with the capabilities that new technologies allows in terms of programming, simulation and automatic generation of programs that not only increase their productivity, but also improve the quality of the processes.<\/p>\n

The final objective of RETRO project is to bring the benefits industry 4.0 in production processes to older machines (those manufactured before 2005), whose remaining useful life can reach or even exceeded 20 years. This objective fits perfectly with the philosophy of making investments profitable through the refurbishment of industrial equipment, which has recently been the subject of a specific call from a European program.<\/p>\n
